JA Solar bolsters storage range with hybrid and commercial units

Planet Fusion features a battery cabinet with a capacity of 261 kWh and an output of 125 kW. Thanks to its modular architecture, up to ten units can run in parallel in grid-connected mode and up to six in island mode. The system accepts a PV input of up to 250 kW across 20 strings and ten maximum power point (MPP) trackers, and an integrated static transfer switch shifts it to island mode within 10 ms if the grid fails. Safety features include liquid cooling, aerosol-based fire suppression and monitoring of temperature, smoke and gas, and the system has been tested to the fire safety standard UL 9540A.

Planet 2.0 also offers 261 kWh of capacity, achieves a round-trip efficiency of more than 90 percent and operates at ambient temperatures of up to 50 °C. Its thermal management reduces auxiliary energy consumption by 20 percent. It also integrates JA’s Nebula energy management system. Pre-orders opened in the second half of September 2026, with the first deliveries of Planet Fusion scheduled for the end of the fourth quarter of 2026. (nhp)
