Off-grid power supply:

Socomec launches mobile storage system on the market

The Sunsys Mobile container is a turnkey system and has a capacity of 330 kilowatt hours and can be installed in less than 30 minutes. At the Dakar desert rally, the unit has already proven how mobile and robust it is.

"With Sunsys Mobile, we are setting standards in sustainable power supply for events," explains Socomec's Marketing Manager Guy Schaaf. Coupled with a diesel generator, up to 60 per cent of fuel can be saved. A completely CO2-free power supply can be realised in combination with a solar power system.

From grid coupling to stand-alone operation

If the mains power at the event location is not sufficient at short notice, Sunsys Mobile can supply the loads with additional energy. An intelligent management system automatically regulates charging and discharging based on consumption, the solar power produced and the mains supply. In the event of a grid failure, on the other hand, the storage unit provides an uninterruptible emergency power supply thanks to its black start capability, without having to oversize the system. Remote venues without a mains connection can be supplied autonomously by the container solution - in combination with a solar system.

Since the European-made and CE-certified solution is as quiet as a sewing machine with 60 db at a distance of one metre, it can be easily installed directly on the event site. Thanks to its plug-and-play system with Powerlock connectors, the energy storage unit can be installed in less than 30 minutes. Transport is possible by truck as well as by ship.

Withstands wind and weather

Robust container: Socomec designed Sunsys Mobile for extreme conditions.

Socomec has developed the storage system for extreme weather conditions. The unit can withstand wind, sandstorms and rain and is suitable for temperatures from minus 20 to plus 50 degrees Celsius. Silent blocks protect the elements from vibrations and shocks in all directions. A fire protection system is integrated.

During the world's longest desert rally, the "Dakar Rally", the storage unit supplied the camps self-sufficiently with green solar power. The teams on site dismantled the mobile storage system every day and set it up again at the next station. "In Dakar, we proved how resilient and mobile our system is," Schaaf is pleased to say.

Nominated for The smarter E Award

The jury of the prestigious The smarter E Award has nominated the desert project in the "Outstanding Projects" category for this year's award. Socomec plans to present the storage unit at ees EUROPE - Europe's largest international trade fair for batteries and energy storage systems - in Munich this October. (mfo)
