Clean generation reached 72 percent of the EU electricity mix so far in 2026, cushioning prices as gas prices climbed 88 percent between February and August. But Eurelectric warns that utility-scale storage, at 64 GW, remains far below the 200 GW needed by 2030, with permitting, taxation and market fragmentation slowing deployment. (hcn)
