Further large-scale PV projects in Romania

In 2024, CCE will continue to make the energy transition visible: the international PV specialist CCE plans to build projects with a total capacity of over 400 MW in its core countries. Construction activities will also focus on Romania, explains CCE Romania Managing Director Johannes Srajer: "Our team has developed projects at an incredible pace over the past two years and brought them to construction maturity. The country offers excellent conditions for us to make the energy transition visible here quickly and efficiently and to realize ready-to-build projects." CCE is therefore planning to start construction of further large-scale ground-mounted systems with a total nominal output of over 200 MW this year.

In addition to the building permits already granted, CCE has now also received grid commitments (ATR) for the Izvoarele (62 MW), Peris 1 (61 MW), Peris 2 (57 MW) and Crevedia (54 MW) projects. As a result, these power plants have also achieved "ready to build" status, meaning that CCE can begin construction this year. Together with the Horia 1 project, which is already under construction, the CCE solar power plants that have now been approved will produce almost half a million megawatt hours of green electricity in Romania in the near future - roughly equivalent to the annual household electricity requirements of the Romanian city of Arad (population 145,000).

Rapid construction progress in Horia

Good rogress can already be seen on the Horia 1 solar power plant. Last week, for example, pile driving of the PV substructures began. The two co-CEOs of CCE, Martin Dürnberger and Jörg Menyesch, were able to see this for themselves and inspect the construction site during a meeting with local partners: "The speed at which we are driving forward the energy transition here is impressive. Horia 1 will be connected to the Romanian power grid in the fall. As the first of several projects in Romania, this is of course a very special event for us. Our mission Realizing the future is turning from a slogan into a tangible reality here. We are proud to be able to show our partners and investors here in Romania what CCE is capable of," the two CEOs add.  (hcn)
