CCE Romania’s 40 MWp park goes live in Arad County

Located in Vladimirescu commune, the facility covers 60 hectares and features approximately 75,000 bifacial 590 W photovoltaic modules from manufacturer Ja Solar. Now fully operational, the project bolsters Romania’s renewable energy generation while expanding CCE Romania’s portfolio of solar assets.

Grid connection via regional DSO

Grid connection has been implemented through Retele Electrice Banat, a distribution system operator (DSO) in the Banat region covering Arad, Timiș, Caraș-Severin, and Hunedoara counties. The plant is linked to the Arad–Pâncota 110 kV overhead line, which crosses the southern boundary of the site. The connection infrastructure includes a dedicated 110 kV station, two new line pillars, and a 110/20 kV, 40 MVA transformer station located adjacent to the link.

Battery storage planned to enhance grid flexibility

The permit authorises an output of 40 MW DC and 31 MW AC without requiring network reinforcement or N-1 automation, ensuring uninterrupted power evacuation. Plans are underway for a battery energy storage system to improve grid flexibility and operational security in the next phase of the project.

Horia 1 supported by EU funding

CCE Holding, based in Vienna, develops and operates photovoltaic and battery storage projects across seven European markets. The company manages the entire project lifecycle, including development, financing, construction, operation, and energy management. Romania’s Horia 1 photovoltaic park received nearly €3 million in funding from the European Union's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), supporting the country’s renewable energy growth and CO₂ reduction targets in alignment with EU climate goals.
