Self-consumption:

Car dealership opts for green electricity for more profitability and sustainability

IBC Solar has developed an bespoke and comprehensive energy solution including PV system, storage, charging infrastructure and energy management system in cooperation with Kempka-Elektrotechnik for the Dresen car dealership in Korschenbroich (North Rhine Westphalia). This makes the company more independent of rising electricity prices and simultaneously lays the groundwork for e-mobility.

More and more car dealerships in Germany are leading the way and demonstrating what it takes for the transport revolution to begin: a complete PV system in their own company. This is also being followed by the Dresen car dealership in Korschenbroich, North Rhine-Westphalia. Since this summer, a total of 528 IBC Solar modules with a total output of 167 kilowatts have been producing climate-friendly solar electricity.

Efficient control of energy flows

For the fast and efficient implementation of the project, the CES expert team from IBC Solar provided support to its long-standing specialist partner Kempka-Elektrotechnik, who installed the system: from the selection of the right components, to the design and detailed planning, to support during commissioning and during the first phase of operation.

The customised system is specially adapted to the needs of the car dealership. In addition to the integration of a storage system, a suitable energy management system (EMS) ensures efficient control of the energy flows in the company and maximum utilisation of the solar power through load management. Parallel to this, the area of electric mobility was also developed accordingly and integrated into the complete PV system.

No grid upgrade needed

With the help of the energy solution, Dresen is able to significantly reduce its energy procurement costs and service charges, thereby increasing its profitability. The planned e-charging infrastructure would also have required a massive upgrade of the grid, including a new transformer. Thanks to the PV energy solution, this measure is now no longer necessary. A further advantage: With the combination of PV self-consumption and storage, the car dealership not only relieves the public power grid, but also saves around 61.6 tonnes of CO2 per year with its energy solution.
