Perovskite technology is widely seen as a strong contender for boosting solar cell efficiency. While a commercial breakthrough remains elusive, steady incremental progress is being made all the time. Our weekly focus takes a closer look.

Obstacles to market introduction for perovskite-based modules have long included questions around durability and scalable mass production. However, recent developments suggest that steady progress is being made on both fronts.

The patent partnership with sublicensing options announced by Oxford PV and Trinasolar in the spring is seen as an important step towards scaling up the new technology.
