Heat pumps:

M-TEC launches efficient heat pumps for large-scale operations

While the air-source heat pumps in the series will be available from July 2021 with outputs ranging from 8 to 31 kilowatts, M-TEC will offer the brine/groundwater pumps with outputs ranging from 10 to 70 kilowatts from April of this year.

With all models, up to four units can be cascaded, so that one can cover a range from 8 to 280 kilowatts. Depending on the size of the flats, the required heating capacity and the energy consumption, up to 100 flats can be heated and cooled with the pumps.

Record efficiency of 5.2

The new Power series impresses with numerous technical features. For example, the newly developed M-TEC Power inverter adjusts the energy used to the actual demand of the apartment building, which increases the efficiency by about 20 per cent. Because this intelligent power control reduces the number of start-up cycles, it also extends the compressor's service life. In the Power series, too, an enlarged evaporator surface, larger fans and innovative injection technology increase the efficiency of the heat pumps. The latter avoids overheating by reacting proactively to future changes in speed.

With these measures, the heat pump company has succeeded in increasing the annual efficiency of the new air-source heat pumps to 5.2 - a new record. "With conventional pumps, this value is below 5," M-TEC managing director Peter Huemer is pleased to say.

Heat source and energy management

Thanks to the integrated source management, the pumps can also use different heat sources simultaneously. Whether ground, PVT collector or brine/air evaporator: the management system always selects the source that provides the highest yield at any given time.

As with its predecessor models, M-TEC also equips the new pumps with the integrated E-SMART Basic energy management system as standard. It maximises self-consumption and controls and regulates all generators and consumers. In addition to the heat pumps, this can also include solar power systems, battery storage, immersion heaters and charging stations for electric vehicles. Optionally, M-TEC offers remote maintenance and warranty extensions of up to ten years. (mfo)
