Vaillant to establish new production plant in Slovakia

The German Vaillant Group is commissioning a new factory in Senica, Slovakia. The factory, which covers 100,000 square metres, will exclusively manufacture heat pumps from May 2023. The factory is designed for an annual output of 300,000 heaters.

Production doubled

This doubles the production of the company, which also manufactures heat pumps in Germany, France and the UK, to well over half a million heat pumps per year. "With the start of the new mega factory, we are driving forward the transformation of Vaillant Group into a leading manufacturer of heat pumps," says Norbert Schiedeck, Managing Director of Vaillant Group. "The company contributes to realising the EU target of ten million newly installed heat pumps by 2027."

Further investments in prospect

Including projects currently underway, investments in the expansion of the heat pump business amount to almost one billion euros. The focus was on the expansion of plants in Remscheid as well as in France, Great Britain and Slovakia.

During the same period, the company has increased its R&D capacities and enlarged its heat pump product portfolio. Depending on future market growth, additional investments of up to another billion euros around the heat pump are planned for the coming years.

Green plant for green technologies

The new factory in Senica, Slovakia, includes manufacturing, a training centre for trade partners, a visitor centre and a logistics centre. The factory uses electrical energy from renewable sources and is heated with heat pumps. In financial year 2021, Vaillant Group, which has been family-owned since its foundation in 1874, achieved turnover of around €3.3 billion with 16,000 employees. (HS/mfo)
