The tool enables end-to-end, practical planning of photovoltaic systems, from the first concept to final design. Once you’ve registered, Solar-Planit is ready to use immediately.
How long has it been available?
The software has been in use since 2010. The 2023 spin-off with BayWa r.e. and Solar Trade marked a key moment, paving the way for smarter and more streamlined development.

Are there frequent updates?
Since then, Solar-Planit has received regular updates, usually every two weeks. These are applied during active use, so users don’t experience any downtime. Practical feedback plus a close partnership with Novotegra help shape and drive forward a process of continuous refinement.
Is it a standalone program or browser-based?
Solar-Planit is a fully web-based application, and it’s available 24/7. It relies on a stable infrastructure with servers and development based in Germany. New features and improvements are rolled out via regular updates, and it runs directly in any modern browser with no installation required.

What capabilities does Solar-Planit include?
The tool covers the entire planning workflow: capturing building data, planning Novotegra mounting systems with ballast and statics, electrical design, yield forecasting, profitability calculations and creating parts lists directly transferrable to BayWa r.e. webshops. Additional features include uploading building drawings and aerial images from drones or satellites.
Can it generate quotes?
Solar-Planit now offers a recommended price quote function for fast preliminary quotes, including customised pricing and margins. The planning range can be expanded by users creating their own product databases.

Which planning steps are supported?
After completing a plan, Solar-Planit produces a comprehensive PDF project report, including company-specific data and logo, relevant technical details, all of which is fully compliant with data protection regulations.
How is support organised?
If questions arise, plans can be sent to experts with a single click for quick and direct assistance. This service is exclusive to BayWa r.e. Solar Trade customers. The parts list can be transferred directly to the Solar Trade webshop to complete orders.

What improvements are planned?
Soon, users will be able to plan solar systems on concrete facades. Future development focuses on more precise planning of large-scale and free-form surface systems. Circuit diagram creation and export (PDF, SVG, CAD) will also be added, along with the ability to integrate e-mobility profiles as usage data.
How many languages are available?
Solar-Planit currently supports nine languages: German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Slovak, Spanish and Czech.

Dr Kathrin Dengler-Roscher joined Solar-Planit Software GmbH in 2023 and has been part of the management team since 2025. Her background spans economics, philosophy and a doctorate in behavioural economics. Her work focuses primarily on user perspectives and the tangible value that digital solutions bring to daily work.
