The Powerbackup Brain and Brain Cabinet are aimed at installers retrofitting wallboxes, heat pumps, storage and dynamic electricity tariffs in existing buildings, without reworking the existing sub-distribution board. The Powerbackup Brain is a pre-wired backup and energy distribution unit that enables full backup via the EPS output of common hybrid inverters up to 30 kW. It integrates the Brain Home energy management system, a smart meter function, an automatic grid transfer switch with an additional manual layer, and prepared connections for inverter, wallbox, heat pump and heating element.
The Brain Cabinet targets retrofits without backup requirements and comes with Brain Home as standard. Fuses and RCDs are added on a project-specific basis by the installer, leaving the pre-wiring untouched.
The Brain Home EMS manages energy flows on a manufacturer-agnostic basis, optimises self-consumption, shaves load and generation peaks and supports sector coupling. Remote diagnostics, energy balances and push notifications are available via app and cloud. The systems are designed for single- and multi-family homes as well as small commercial projects, and can be deployed across the EU. (nhp)
