Zinco system links PV and green roofs with flexible design

Combined with a smart system for distributing rainwater and moisture from a drip irrigation setup, Solar Vert allows homeowners to store significant amounts of rainwater and drain excess water in a controlled way. At the same time, less of this valuable resource is needed for irrigation during dry periods.

The mounting system for the photovoltaic modules is fixed to solar base plates, which are laid on the drainage and water storage layer of the green roof. Planners have several options: Zinco offers different solar base frames that are screwed onto the base plates to form the module mounting structure. This allows for a classic south-facing elevation with various tilt angles, or an east–west orientation – either as a pitched or butterfly roof configuration.

For the green roof, the craftsman fills the sedum layer into the solar base plates, which also serve to ballast the photovoltaic system. No additional ballast is needed, as the system is securely positioned on the roof. The thickness of the sedum layer depends on the loads acting on the solar installation and is precisely calculated during the planning phase according to the specific roof conditions. (nhp)
