“Italy has been an important and growing market for us for years, with high technical and regulatory requirements,” says Fabian Madl, Key Account Manager at Schletter Group. “For projects of this scale, robust structural engineering, certified material quality and reliable supply chains are crucial.” The solar park is located just a few kilometres from Udine. In total, around 156,700 solar modules were installed across an area of approximately 75 hectares.
How Italy is advancing the solar energy transition
The Schletter ground-mount system “FS Duo” was used, a two-post steel structure designed for large, multi-row module layouts. Three modules were mounted vertically, one above the other. This configuration allows efficient land use while delivering high stability and short installation times. In addition, driven pile foundations made of hot-dip galvanised steel and special Z-purlins ensure a high level of durability and stability.
Higher safety margins
Stability and structural integrity were of particular importance. For this project, approval by an independent structural engineer was required, partly due to seismic influences, as parts of northern Italy are classified as earthquake zones. As a result, the structural design is based on higher safety margins than for other PV projects in Italy, placing increased demands on construction, material quality and documentation.

“Already in the planning phase, it was clear that we would need to work with significantly higher safety reserves,” Madl emphasises. “We therefore adapted the design early on to regional requirements and coordinated the documentation closely with the structural engineer, authorities and EnValue Solar.” Schletter Group has been working successfully with the German EPC contractor EnValue Solar for several years.
Schletter aims to continue its growth in the Italian market. Alongside conventional ground-mounted projects, the company’s agri-PV solutions are also playing a growing role, according to Madl: “Italy is currently developing very dynamically in the agri-PV segment. We offer a broad product portfolio for this and maintain close dialogue with project developers and investors.” Schletter’s portfolio includes both fixed, elevated systems and single-axis tracking systems with ground clearance of more than 2.1 metres.
