Denmark is set for a major expansion in renewable capacity, with the Danish Energy Agency projecting solar power to quadruple from 5 GW to 20 GW by 2030. This growth comes from a mix of large-scale solar parks and rooftop systems on homes, businesses and municipal buildings. Together with Norwegian partner Solcellekraft, Wewise has already installed around 15,000 systems across Northern Europe.
Breaking grid barriers – how solar empowers business growth
Daniel Andersen, CEO of DCC Energi, describes the Danish market as young and largely shaped by small installers using a variety of technologies. He sees this as an opportunity for a larger player with established supply chains and technical expertise – an advantage DCC Energi and Wewise plan to leverage. Instead of acquiring an existing solar company, DCC Energi, as Wewise’s local subsidiary, has chosen to build its new business in-house. The solar unit will operate as a small, agile team focused on business development, technology, and both consumer and commercial sales.
European Energy grows in Denmark with 207 MW solar park
While solar energy is a new segment for DCC Energi in Denmark, the company is drawing on the group’s international expertise. This move builds on DCC Energi’s broader strategy to expand its electrification portfolio. In recent years, the company has added electricity sales, heat pumps and EV charging solutions, and expects solar to become an increasingly important pillar in both residential and commercial markets.
