More than 250 participants attended the event, which brought together leading national and international solar companies. Across 15 exhibition areas, delegates explored new developments in photovoltaics (PV), energy storage and related technologies, highlighting PV’s growing significance in North Macedonia and the increasing impact of the conference itself.

Promoting cooperation and industry development
Collaboration was a central theme, with the conference encouraging exchange and partnership at regional, national and international levels. Solar Macedonia confirmed its participation at The Energy Transition Expo 2026 in Rimini, presented certificates, and signed agreements with partners to support investment and share expertise across the renewable energy value chain. Expert panel discussions addressed the role of local companies, workforce development, certification and project financing. Solar Macedonia continues to support these areas through its involvement in European and global solar associations, training programmes and participation in trade fairs.
Policy, legal frameworks and grid integration
Participants also discussed updates to the policy and legal framework, including the new Energy Law, which places renewables at the centre of national strategy, with generation and grid expansion as priorities. The forthcoming Law on Renewable Energy Sources will set expansion targets, introduce contracts for difference (CfD), regulate net metering and net billing, and encourage energy communities. A grid master plan is being developed to guide the integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and strengthen grid stability. The government is calling on companies to invest in reliable technologies and sustainable processes to support the continued growth of renewables.

Solar Macedonia’s role in sector development
With more than 100 member organisations, Solar Macedonia serves as a professional, educational and social platform for cooperation across the solar industry. Accredited by the Ministry of Education and the Centre for Adult Education, the association operates as a certified training centre for licensed solar installers. These activities help advance technical standards, industry collaboration and the development of North Macedonia’s solar sector within the wider European energy transition. (mg)
