As the Irish and wider European markets expand rapidly, the renewed partnership highlights a shared commitment to working with members, manufacturers and policy stakeholders to accelerate solar deployment in line with Ireland’s 2030 renewable energy targets, while ensuring that growth remains responsible and delivers fair, sustainable outcomes for all.
Ireland maintains full €1,800 support for residential PV in 2026
This collaboration builds on ongoing efforts across Ireland to enhance traceability, responsible sourcing and due diligence. The new agreement further aligns the Irish market with European standards, supporting the sector’s continued growth in ways that meet the expectations of communities, investors and international partners.
Planned measures
Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding at the Sustainable Solar Europe conference in Brussels, Ronan Power, CEO of Solar Ireland, said: “This enhanced partnership allows us to take that work further, giving our members access to European standards, tools and training so we can continue to grow at pace while maintaining transparency, integrity and public trust.”
Under the agreement, Solar Ireland and SSI will:
• Share guidance, training and resources with Solar Ireland members
• Support continuous adoption of coherent, credible traceability and due diligence approaches
• Promote responsible sourcing and sustainability standards across the Irish market
• Strengthen alignment with EU expectations for renewable energy supply chains
ESB and Bord na Móna launch 500 MW solar venture
Solar Ireland will integrate SSI materials and expertise into its working groups, policy engagement and the new Members Area launching in early 2026. The initiative will support companies in understanding and preparing for upcoming European requirements on sustainability claims, traceability and value‑chain due diligence. (hcn)
