Chris Hewett, Chief Executive of Solar Energy UK: “This agreement with RePower Ukraine is not just about addressing the catastrophic impact of the war on Ukraine's most vulnerable people. It also highlights how Putin's invasion triggered the energy price crisis, underscoring the urgent need for rapid decarbonisation.”
Key initiatives include:
Key initiatives include implementing solar and battery storage projects for hospitals, schools, and municipal facilities, sharing expertise and delivering training on solar technology, and promoting policies to address energy poverty through solar power. UK solar industry leaders, such as Segen, Midsummer, and Waxman, have already made significant contributions. Midsummer, for example, recently donated battery storage systems to two hospitals, showcasing the industry's dedication.
Significant step towards energy independence for Ukraine
Artem Semenyshyn, Board Member of RePower Ukraine and former Chief Executive of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine, stated, "We are excited to set up a framework for long-lasting fruitful collaboration with SEUK on the further development of PV and energy storage projects for Ukrainian hospitals. This will strengthen the historically important cooperation between the UK and Ukraine." RePower Ukraine, founded by Ukraine's leading solar companies in 2022, has played a key role in delivering energy solutions to regions such as Kharkiv and Sumy, which face ongoing missile attacks.
The collaboration represents a major stride towards Ukraine's energy independence and highlights the impact of international partnerships in tackling global energy challenges. (hcn)
