Genera and Matelec set the stage for energy sector innovation

The International Week for Electrification and Decarbonisation will take place from 18 to 20 November 2025 at the Madrid Exhibition Centre. For the first time, the Genera and Matelec trade fairs will be held jointly as part of the event.

Spain leads southern Europe in photovoltaic growth

According to organiser Ifema Madrid, more than 800 exhibitors from 26 countries are expected to attend. With 34,000 square metres of exhibition space, the event is the largest platform for renewable energies, electrification and technological solutions for the electricity sector in Southern Europe.

Specialist programme with a focus on PV and storage

More than 61 percent of exhibitors come from Spain, with 39 percent representing international companies. According to the organisers, this reflects both the strength of the domestic market and growing international interest.

The supporting programme features a wide range of specialist forums and industry gatherings, with a focus on decarbonisation, digitalisation and electrification. Notable highlights include the inaugural Congress of the International Week for Electrification and Decarbonisation, featuring Spain’s Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE). The Renewables Days, hosted by the APPA industry association, will cover photovoltaics, energy storage and the growing shift towards electrification, alongside other key topics.

Another highlight is Electricity System Day, held under the theme “What kind of electricity system do we need?” The programme also features an Electromobility Day and a panel discussion on residential electrical retrofitting, where a new industry report by the AFME and ADIME associations will be presented. Of particular importance for the solar sector is the UNEF Genera Solar Forum, organised by the industry association. Additional industry meetings will offer opportunities to exchange on topics such as combined heat and power, hydrogen and market flexibility. The events will be held across several exhibition halls and in the North Congress Centre.
