European Energy adds 65 MWh storage to Anykščiai solar park

The system is scheduled to begin operation in February 2026 and represents the company’s first battery energy storage system in the Baltic states. The Anykščiai solar park is fully operational and connected to the electricity balancing market. Once commissioned, the battery will provide balancing services alongside electricity generation, supporting stability and flexibility in the power system.

Over the past five years, renewable energy development in Lithuania has accelerated, driven in part by strong growth in solar power. Tadeušas Konkovskis, Vice President of European Energy and Head of the Baltic region, notes that the expansion of renewables increases the importance of flexibility solutions. He adds that energy storage plays a central role in integrating solar power into the energy system.
