String inverter systems continue to make headway: Success of SG250HX

“We hold the future of this planet and its inhabitants in our hands” and “it is not too late yet to limit CO2 emissions”.  These and similar statements have been circulating in quite a few key notes recently. Sungrow, one of the world’s largest PV inverter manufacturers and member of the RE 100, actively supports the United Nations defined climate goals to help these targets are achieved.

The cost of solar power generation (LCOE) has declined throughout all segments with utility-scale solar now being one of the most competitive sources of electricity. Solar combined with storage (ESS) is now also more economical compared to gas in a peak demand scenario, according to investment bank Lazard.

A report by Solarpower Europe shows that the number of jobs would triple if the EU increased its renewable energy target from 40 to 45 % by 2030. Currently, 357,000 people work in the solar industry across Europe. The potential is still huge and so are the innovation plans by Sungrow.

Focus on innovation

Sungrow maintains one of the largest R&D departments in the solar industry. Sungrow continues to release cutting edge solar solutions to the global market. When released in 2019, the SG250HX string inverter was the most powerful 1500V inverter. Because of its high-power density and low cost per Watt, SG250HX has become the preferred inverter choice for utility-scale solar projects around the world.

Sungrow continues to develop industry leading products and is currently preparing the SG350HX release to the European market. Yet again Sungrow’s R&D team has managed to develop the largest string inverter in the world. The SG350HX was first presented at the Intersolar 2021 in Munich.

“We still observe the undiminished demand for string inverters – especially for the highly efficient and powerful SG250HX. The market takes advantage of the flexibility of the Multi-MPPT string inverter for 1500V system, with maximum efficiency of 99%.” says Sungrow Europe General Manager Lewis Li.

Trusted brand for solar projects

With the cost of solar energy dropping, the global market continues to grow rapidly. Making solar projects increasingly interesting for investors around the world. Selecting a trustworthy inverter supplier is paramount for the success and long-term reliability of a solar project. The stakeholders of a solar project can be rest assured that quality and excellence are a given with Sungrow’s products. How serious Sungrow is about the sustainability of its solutions can also be read in their latest CSR Report.

Power-selling string inverter SG250HX hand in hand with nature

For Sungrow the idea of nature conservation is of high importance. Sungrow always proposes to integrate a large PV plant into its natural habitat. The company understands this as another important factor besides climate protection to improve local acceptance. Sungrow’s product life cycle is supporting to meet these standards.

A project in Oberijssel, the Netherlands, is a leading example. It was realised with 64 SG250HX inverters. The project required a complex approach, due to its sensitive archaeological situation. In this project a series of ecological measures to support a rich fauna and flora have been implemented. The combination of sheep grazing, wild flower seeding, planting rare plants, and the introduction of bee hives creates a biodiverse environment within a solar farm.
