In a straightforward example of residential solar on a hipped roof, the array covers around 38 square metres and is forecast to generate 9,184 kWh per year. Fourteen modules sit on the main surface, at an azimuth of around 165 degrees, slightly east of south, with a further five on the south-west side. The central unit is a Plenticore G3 M 8.5, which can be deployed as a solar, hybrid or battery inverter depending on how the system is configured.
At present, the solar electricity is consumed directly by the household and the heat pump. The family plans to add a battery storage system, a wallbox and an electric vehicle. Its annual electricity consumption is around 3,800 kWh, and the calculated self-consumption rate is 39.5 percent.
The inverter offers interfaces via LAN, WLAN, Modbus TCP, SG Ready and digital switching outputs. Multi Device Control allows up to three Plenticore G3 units to be managed centrally. Combined with storage and a transfer switch, a backup power supply is possible. Monitoring is handled via the Kostal Solar Portal and its companion app. (nhp)
