NL – Prologis switches on 3.3 MW rooftop PV in Venlo

Covering around 45,000 square metres, the facility at Prologis Park Venlo is the retailer’s first distribution centre outside Denmark and will supply stores and customers in the Netherlands and across Europe. The site forms part of Søstrene Grene’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and environmental impact across construction, operation and transport. Measures include the rooftop solar installation, the use of more sustainable materials and design choices aimed at reducing impact and enabling later reuse. Locating the facility closer to key markets shortens transport routes and reduces emissions in the logistics chain.

NL – microgrid helps logistics hub bypass grid constraints

The Venlo project forms part of Prologis’s broader decarbonisation strategy, with its net zero target across the entire value chain by 2040 validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative. Prologis reports that it operates more than 1 GW of solar capacity worldwide, supported by battery storage. “In the Netherlands, the question is no longer whether rooftop solar can be installed, but whether projects can be designed with actual grid conditions in mind,” says Melchert Duijve, VP, Energy Solutions Europe at Prologis.
