In the event of a fire, the devices disconnect the solar modules from the system and protect the inverter against surges. The FWS 3 is designed for three MPP trackers and two strings, while the FWS 6 supports six MPP trackers and two strings.
The integrated emergency switch is powered via the building's AC grid and triggered manually through a remote release. If voltage on the AC line drops, the DC line is disconnected mechanically and automatically. Once full voltage is restored, the emergency switch re-establishes the DC connection on its own, with no manual intervention required.
To protect the switch itself against surge pulses from the building's electrical system, the developers have integrated an additional AC surge arrester into the FWS enclosures. The units are available now through wholesalers. (TF)
