„To expand our payment options, we have introduced Bitcoin as a payment method for our roofs. Our philosophy is all about choice. It should be your choice, as it is your money, your energy. On our part, we offer more flexible payment methods. If our customers are currently paying for their roofs with Swedish kronor, Polish zlotys or euros, then why should they not be able to pay with Bitcoin?“ says Lech Kaniuk, co-founder and CEO of SunRoof.
Preparing for the future of global transactions with Bitcoin
Paying with cryptocurrencies may still seem unconventional, but many well-known and innovative businesses such as Virgin Galactic and Microsoft already accept them. Lech Kaniuk is a veteran when it comes to introducing digital currency payments. In 2013, he pioneered Bitcoin as a payment option for food on the website PizzaPortal.pl (now known as Glovo). Now SunRoof accepts this payment method for its solar roofs.

„By accepting Bitcoin, we are preparing for the future of global transactions. Our plan is to expand tenfold on our current markets, which are Sweden, Norway, Germany and Poland. We will be launching operations in Italy and Spain this year, and we want to establish a presence in the US by 2022“, adds Kaniuk.
Growing trend towards digital payments
The growing trend towards digital payments is further amplified partly by the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing interest in digital currencies among modern consumers. Cryptocurrencies are increasingly used the same way as a traditional currency would be, such as when shopping online. Digital currencies, though they are only beginning to garner popularity, are already expanding beyond the original group of early adopters.
