Takeover

Kostal acquires charging technology provider Compleo

The Kostal Group has taken over the entire operating business of Compleo Charging Solutions. This means that the Dortmund-based provider of charging technology for electric vehicles is now part of Kostal. The takeover had already become apparent in May of this year. Now, after the creditors' committee and the administrator of the provider of Compleo Charging Solutions have approved and all regulatory clearances have been given, it could be completed.

Developing bi-directional charging

Compleo not only manufactures charging columns and wallboxes, but also onboard chargers for solar charging of EVs. In the future, the company will focus on bidirectional charging under the umbrella of the Kostal Group. In addition, Compleo still offers software solutions that are suitable for the development of business models.

Kostal completes range of solutions

Compleo ran into financial difficulties in December 2022 and has since pursued insolvency proceedings on its own. With the takeover by Kostal, the company has found a potent investor to continue product development and production. In turn, Kostal thus completes its portfolio of solutions related to the energy transition and energy efficiency. "With the acquisition of Compleo, the Kostal Group complements its business activities with a focus on the trend of energy efficiency. We now cover a significant part of the electrification of different areas of life, from regenerative energy generation and storage to stationary and mobile charging of electric vehicles and energy saving via the intelligent control of electric drives," says Andreas Kostal, CEO of the Kostal Group.

This applies to both hardware and software. Jörg Lohr, Managing Director of Compleo, adds: "With the merger, Compleo and Kostal are combining their core competences in the field of uni- and bidirectional charging, back-end operation of land infrastructure and compliance with calibration laws. Together we want to pull out all the stops to become the market leader of charging technology in Europe." (su/mfo)
