E-mobility:

New Market Overview Charging Systems now available

The Market Overview Charging Systems was published by Power2Drive Europe, the international exhibition for charging infrastructure and e-mobility, in cooperation with cosmix, a major European platform for charging infrastructure. The market overview presents over 250 products from 84 manufacturers and is now available to download for free.

“Expanding the charging infrastructure to ensure comprehensive coverage is essential for Europe to lead the way in the worldwide push towards e-mobility,” says Markus Elsässer, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH, the organizer of the innovation hub for the new energy world, The smarter E Europe, which includes Power2Drive Europe. “And of course, that is feasible thanks to more affordable prices, particularly through subsidies,” he continued. “In this way, we can solve the chicken-and-egg situation of people not buying electric vehicles because of there are not enough charging stations, and not enough charging stations being built because there aren’t enough electric cars,” added Elsässer. Germany is on the right track: In September 2021, of the 224,000 charging points in the European Union, almost 30% were in the Netherlands and 20% in France and Germany respectively, according to figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

To drive this expansion further, it now all comes down to the reliability and usability of infrastructure, cooperation between charging station operators, billing service providers, vehicle manufacturers and mobility service providers. Both businesses and individuals who want to play their part in combatting the climate crisis and who seek to accelerate the transition to climate-friendly mobility, need appropriate, smart charging solutions and suitable partners for setting up and operating charging points. “The Power2Drive Europe Restart 2021 at the beginning of October has shown that industry professionals have a great interest in smart charging solutions. Installers and distributors alike are now in the process of selecting suppliers to help them serve their customers,” says Daniel Strowitzki, managing director of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG, co-organizer of The smarter E Europe.

Technical data and planning tips

The updated Market Overview Charging Systems published by Power2Drive Europe in collaboration with cosmix helps readers get their bearings in this fast-growing sector. It offers all those interested – from specialists to newcomers – an overview of technical data and answers questions such as: Which connectors, how much charging power and how many charging points can be supported? Is an intelligent charge management system available? How can charging points or wall boxes be integrated into a building, energy or fleet management system? The Market Overview lists over 250 products from 84 manufacturers – that’s more than double the amount as in the first edition half a year ago (May 2021). To stress the wide variety of available products, the new Market Overview contains more example products for every manufacturer than the previous edition. Both AC (normal) and DC (high-speed) charging stations and wall boxes are described based on the following categories: number of charging points, charging power, charging connection and management, as well as backend connectivity (communication between charging station, management system and network connection). The publication also contains planning tips for companies for the expansion of their own charging infrastructure.
