E-Mobility:

Continue working for more electric transportation

Power2Drive Europe, the international exhibition for charging infrastructure and e-mobility, and the German Federal Association for eMobility (BEM) are working together more intensely than ever before and intend to continue their cooperative efforts over the long term. Together, they are seeking to restructure the transportation sector in Germany using renewable energies and switch over to sustainable mobility. The partners are well on their way, as proven by the current numbers of registered electric vehicles.

E-mobility is booming in Germany. According to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), a record 21,188 electric vehicles were registered in September 2020 alone. The market share of e-cars – battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) – is expected to rise to 10.7 percent by the end of the year, with an anticipated 300,000 new registrations (108,600 in 2019) according to a forecast by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM). The Electric Vehicle Outlook 2020 published by BloombergNEF predicts that by 2030 nearly a third of all vehicles with an electric drive sold worldwide could be on the roads in Europe – a market second only to China. The associated market potential in Europe – for intelligent charging solutions and mobility services as well – is enormous and is bolstered by political programs that promote sustainability and future-oriented technologies. For instance, in combination with other factors such as reduced tax rates, the German government’s innovation bonus manifestly contributed to increasing the price competitiveness of electric cars and broadening acceptance of e-mobility in general.

The energy and mobility transitions under one roof

From batteries and fuel cells to charging infrastructure and mobility services to electric vehicles: e-mobility has many facets. As an international exhibition dedicated to the future mobility in the context with sector coupling, Power2Drive Europe offers the major players involved in this industry a platform to present innovative technologies and business models. Power2Drive Europe is part of The smarter E Europe – the continent’s largest platform for the energy industry – and enables the e-mobility industry to connect with other sectors of the renewable, decentralized and digital energy industry. “Power2Drive Europe covers topics that belong together, bringing the energy and mobility transitions together under one roof,” says BEM president Kurt Sigl.

“We are thrilled to have found such a strong and well-connected partner in the German Federal Association for eMobility,” says Joel Wenske, Project Manager of Power2Drive Europe since September 2020. BEM represents over 300 companies from various sectors along the supply chain of low-emission drive systems, from manufacturers of automobiles and two-wheeled vehicles to suppliers and from IT companies to public and private utility companies.

Podcasts, webinars and a joint exhibition booth

Experts from BEM will also be present at the Power2Drive exhibition forum and will participate in the accompanying specialist conference. More The smarter E podcasts on topics such as cross-sector solutions, as well as The smarter E webinars addressing the legal framework for charging infrastructures and more are all in the works. And finally, the German Federal Association for E-mobility and its member companies will have a joint booth in hall B6 directly at the East Entrance at Power2Drive Europe from June 9 to 11, 2021 in Munich to introduce themselves in person.

The place for major players to network and present their innovative concepts In keeping with its motto “Charging the future of mobility,” the exhibition Power2Drive Europe presents intelligent charging solutions for the public and private sectors as well as an entire series of vehicles with electric drive systems and solutions for electric fleets. The spectrum ranges from electric passenger cars and light electric vehicles to commercial vehicles with electric drives to retrofitted special vehicles and other market innovations. Power2Drive Europe reflects the interaction between electric vehicles and a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy supply, where the new energy world inspires e-mobility and vice versa. Each benefits from technological advancements in the other, leading to greater and better interconnections – for example when affordable green power generated by solar roofs is consumed on-site, when intelligent charging solutions are installed or when mobility services such as sharing concepts or vehicle fleet management are integrated. A current analysis published by EuPD Research shows that owners of new photovoltaic installations take specific measures to increase self-consumption of solar power. In fact, their research shows that over a quarter of all individuals who have purchased photovoltaic systems in 2020 already have or intend to purchase an electric car. At Power2Drive Europe, stakeholders in both the energy and the mobility transition have the opportunity to make new contacts and promote innovative concepts, paving the way for e-mobility to make a lasting and sustainable contribution to reducing emissions and improving climate and environmental protection.
