Next2Sun has launched a share issue to fund its next stage of growth, aiming to raise up to five million euros. The supplier of vertically mounted solar systems, primarily for agricultural use, said the proceeds would go toward advancing its own solar projects and scaling up its business model.
Timing of generation becomes more important
The agrivoltaics specialist sees itself well placed to benefit from structural shifts in the photovoltaic market. "The energy transition is entering a new phase," said Heiko Hildebrandt, board member at Next2Sun. "It is no longer the sheer volume of solar power generated that determines the success of a plant, but above all the timing of that generation. This is precisely where the strength of our technology lies."
While most solar plants concentrate their output around midday, Next2Sun's vertical bifacial systems, at comparable yields, generate the bulk of their electricity in the morning and evening hours. This delivers higher market values than conventional south-facing ground-mounted arrays and reduces revenue-eroding curtailment.
Revenues rise against the market trend
As renewables continue to expand, this advantage is becoming increasingly significant, allowing the technology to play to its competitive strengths. Spot-market revenues for Next2Sun's installations have risen sharply recently, running counter to the wider market trend. In the first half of 2026, the company said its edge relative to the solar market value exceeded 60 percent.
Vertical PV and existing solar parks: a case for overbuilding
Next2Sun now intends to expand its business model and accelerate deployment further. For 2026 alone, the company has a pipeline of built and planned projects totalling 50 MW. For 2027, it expects a project volume of more than 70 MW. In the medium term, Next2Sun is targeting annual deployment in the triple-digit megawatt range. That will require capital.
Scaling phase begins
The capital increase is being carried out as a direct issue by the stock corporation. Until 4 September 2026, Next2Sun is offering the new shares to existing shareholders under their subscription rights. After that, all interested investors will be able to subscribe to new shares directly with Next2Sun until 30 September 2026. "Over the past ten years, we have built the technological foundations. While we have already shown impressive growth in that time, the phase of serious scaling is just starting now," said Sascha Krause-Tünker, board member at Next2Sun, explaining the decision to issue new shares. "With this capital increase, we want to create the conditions to systematically unlock the enormous market potential of vertical photovoltaics." (su)
