After Shell had become an investor at Sonnen in May 2018, the company has now been completely sold to the energy giant. Approval from the regulatory authorities is still pending.

In addition to intelligent energy storage systems, Sonnen also offer digital services to private households through their Sonnen Community. The Sonnen-Battery optimises consumption during the day and provides the household during the night with the solar electricity stored in the daytime. Just recently, Sonnen put a large virtual battery into operation in Germany, which consists of a network of home storage units distributed throughout the country and contributes to stabilising the electricity grid.

Continued dynamic growth

Christoph Ostermann, CEO and co-founder of Sonnen comments: "With Shell New Energies we have found the perfect strategic partner to help us continue growing dynamically in a rapidly developing market. Thanks to this investment, we can now make it possible for even more households to become energy independent and to benefit from completely new opportunities in the energy market". (MFO/HS/HCN)
