EWS starts distributing BYD energy storage systems

BYD, one of the world's largest manufacturers of rechargeable batteries, and supplier of electric cars, had presented its new high-voltage storage B-Box HV at Intersolar. Two low-voltage versions, the modular B-Box Pro 2.5 - 10 and the larger B-Box Pro 13.8 are already available. The high-voltage models under the name B-Box HV (H 6.4 to 11.5) are expected to be available in September 2017. "EWS is a strong distribution partner in Northern Germany with the best connections to Scandinavia," explains Julia Chen, Global Sales Director at BYD Batteries. "Together with EWS, we want to tap the great potential for energy storage in this European region."

Can be combined with SMA and Kostal

The energy storage devices of BYD can be combined with the battery inverters from SMA and Kostal. Further partners from the inverter sector are to follow. "Battery storage is the most growing product segment in our company," explains EWS Managing Director Kai Lippert. "With BYD, we have a powerful new partner to meet the high demand for high-quality and price-attractive battery packs with an even broader range - with a more flexible choice for storage inverters than before."

Scalable up to 442 kilowatt hours

A major plus of the BYD energy storage system is scalability: thanks to the modular design, they are expandable at any time, adapt themselves to the growing energy requirements without problems and are thus suitable for private and commercial applications. In the low-voltage version, storage capacities of 2.56 kilowatt hours to 442 kilowatt hours are possible (with a parallel connection of up to eight or 32 systems).

Thanks to the patented, cordless plug-in system, capacities of 6.4 to 57.5 kilowatt hours are achieved in the high voltage range. All BYD products have the usual certifications (eg TÜV) as well as a ten-year time guarantee. (HS/HCN)
