SSI, IRMA partner on responsible mineral sourcing

The partnership builds on a shared commitment to a just and sustainable energy transition, reflecting the growing recognition that scaling renewable energy must go hand in hand with strong governance across supply chains. It acknowledges that rapid expansion in the sector requires robust social and environmental practices, the safeguarding of workers’ rights, and meaningful engagement with affected communities and rightsholders at all stages of the supply chain.

ESG partnership advances responsible copper sourcing

Through the MoU, SSI and IRMA will collaborate across several areas, including improving traceability for critical minerals used in solar technologies, supporting supply chain participants through joint capacity-building initiatives, and exploring a phased approach to integrating reliable mining assurance into solar supply chains. The cooperation aims to extend traceability further upstream and support the scaling of traceable material flows over time. Moreover, the partnership aligns with increasing regulatory requirements and rising expectations from consumers, investors, stakeholders and rightsholders, while also improving coordination between assurance systems to cut overlap and make expectations clearer for supply chain actors.
