Sunrock, the Gold Award winner, conducts audits of solar PV sites and focuses on safeguarding migrant workers’ rights and fair labour conditions. UNEF was the second finalist. The Spanish PV association was recognised for its Seal of Excellence in Storage, an initiative that promotes best practices in storage facilities while respecting biodiversity, supporting local communities and ensuring positive long-term environmental impact.
Solar Materials wins European Solar Sustainability Award 2024
BNE (Bundesverband Neue Energiewirtschaft), the Bronze Award winner, was recognised for its comprehensive study on biodiversity, which found that solar farms enhance overall biodiversity. The study showed, for example, that solar farms in Germany provide habitat for 52 percent of the country’s bat species. (hcn)
