Romania has emerged as one of Eastern Europe's fastest-growing solar markets, adding 2.2 GW of new PV capacity in 2025 and surpassing 9 GW installed overall. With a 38.3 percent renewable energy target and more than 12 GW of solar projected by 2030, the country is becoming a strategic hub for solar, storage and flexibility investments. Against this backdrop, the Intersolar Summit Romania 2026 will take place on 13–14 October 2026 at the NORD Events Center in Bucharest, bringing together more than 350 delegates, 25 speakers and 15 partners from across the renewable energy spectrum, billed as the leading Eastern European gathering for solar, storage and flexibility.
Bulgaria’s solar future – challenges, opportunities and the path forward
The programme will bring together solar developers, utilities, investors, policymakers and service providers to encourage collaboration across the sector. Discussions will cover PV integration, co-location, hybrid energy systems, storage optimisation, flexibility solutions and firm power concepts, alongside new sources of demand such as data centres and AI applications. High-level sessions will address innovative business models for hybrid assets, merchant market dynamics, firm renewable power solutions and cross-sector integration strategies. These sessions are intended to explore new revenue opportunities and the evolving role of solar and storage in Romania's energy transition. (hcn)
