MET Group continues to grow in Europe and is now taking over the Mega Group based in Belgium. Pictured is a MET solar park in Andalusia.

Swiss-based MET Group is set to acquire a 68.5% stake in the Belgium-based energy and telecom supplier Mega Group International. The transaction is still subject to the usual competition authority approvals.

The closing is expected to take place in Q2 2025. Under the agreement with MET Group, the 31.5% minority stake in Mega will remain with the founders and current co-CEOs Michael Corhay and Thomas Coune who will continue to lead the Mega business.

MET Group purchases battery storage developer Comax France

Mega Group International is an energy and telecom retailer focusing mostly on household customers in Belgium and the Netherlands, supplying gas and electricity as well as telecoms services. The Liège-headquartered company was founded in 2013. Today, with a portfolio size of over 500,000 customers, Mega ranks among the top 5 energy suppliers in Belgium.

With MET’s capabilities and global supply portfolio, Mega plans to expand its sales to small and medium businesses as well as industrial consumers. (hcn)
