652 MW PV installed in Sweden in 2025 – 23 percent decline

Despite this sharp decrease in installations, the drop in total installed capacity from 848 MW in 2024 to 652 MW in 2025 was less pronounced, as several large solar parks were commissioned during 2025.

The development varied considerably between market segments:

- Residential (< 20 kW): 239 MW (–39%)

- Commercial (1–1,000 kW): 215 MW (–35%)

- Large-scale (> 1,000 kW): 198 MW (+46%)

By installed capacity, the large-scale segment has now caught up with the other market segments and is currently the only segment showing growth in total installed power. Preliminary data from the Swedish Tax Agency indicates that around 75,000 private individuals received green tax credits for battery installations in 2025, marking a 34 percent increase compared to the previous year.

These estimates are based on a survey conducted by the Swedish Solar Energy Association (Svensk Solenergi) among the major electricity grid operators. The Swedish Energy Agency will publish official statistics later this year, which may result in updated figures. (hcn)
