Mercedes-Benz’s two new home-charging services, MB-Charge Home Dynamic and MB-Charge Home Intelligent, automatically schedule charging for times when electricity is especially cheap and a high share of renewable energy is expected on the grid. Customers enter their desired departure time and target state of charge in the Mercedes-Benz app.
MB-Charge Home Dynamic optimises charging based on day-ahead electricity market prices, without customers having to switch tariff. MB-Charge Home Intelligent combines smart charging with the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Eco Tariff from The Mobility House Energy. Customers currently receive a bonus of 10 cents for every kWh charged this way, credited to their monthly electricity bill.
Both services require a compatible AC wallbox with a PWM charging signal and an eligible Mercedes-Benz model. Eligible models include plug-in hybrids based on MB.OS 0.7 and fully electric models such as the EQS, CLA, GLB, GLA, GLC and VLE. (nhp)
