The GridX platform identifies which vehicle is charging, its target state of charge and how long it will remain plugged in, working out unused capacity without needing vehicle-to-grid technology. Charge points connect to the platform through the company's Gridbox EMS gateway. The product is aimed at e-mobility solution providers and their customers, including logistics companies and fleet operators.
The system draws charging schedules and requirements from the charge point or fleet management system, transmitting them via the cloud and estimating demand where data is missing, then predicts in real time how much flexibility is available across the entire vehicle pool. This can be bundled into a portfolio and traded on wholesale markets before the signals are disaggregated and individual vehicles charged accordingly.
According to GridX model calculations, a unidirectionally charging electric truck with 400 kWh of battery capacity and a daily charging requirement of 180 kWh can save up to €6,000 per year. The company currently aggregates flexibility from around 16,000 electric vehicles in private households. (nhp)
