Strong residential solar growth in Ukraine

A total of 4,660 private households have installed solar power with a total capacity of almost 90 MW as of the first half of 2018, and investments amounted to about 88 million euros, according to official figures. The leaders of the number of installed private solar power stations became the areas Kiev with 602 Solar energy systems (SES), followed by Dnipropetrovsk with 541 SES and Ternopil with 365 SES.

Green tariff for private solar installations up to 30 kW

“This activity of the population is pleasantly impressive and proves that in June 2015 we introduced an effective stimulus – a green tariff for private SES with a capacity of up to 30 kW,” – said Sergey Savchuk, Head of State Department of Energy Efficiency.

As experts predicted at the 7th CISOLAR 2018 International Conference and Exhibition of Solar Energy in Central and Eastern Europe, this year is witnessing a real boom in the development of solar energy in Ukraine. Favorable green tariffs give homeowners every opportunity to install solar panels beneficial and at no extra cost.

Almost 270 MW of renewable energy sources were installed in Ukraine in the first half year of 2018 with the major share of 206 MW PV installations.
