KOSTAL’s Smart World at Intersolar Europe in Munich

At their stand at the Intersolar Europe, Freiburg-based KOSTAL Solar Electric GmbH are demonstrating how they have had to develop from a manufacturer of smart inverters to a provider of solutions for entire ecosystems in a particularly impressive way – using KOSTAL's Smart World.

Setting standards for their market segment

The exhibition stand focuses on the wide range of skills and expertise within the corporate group; with sales in excess of two billion euros and just under 20,000 employees, KOSTAL is always well placed to set market standards both as an automotive supplier and as a manufacturer of innovative solar and hybrid inverters. One of these standards is set by the PV hybrid inverter PLENTICORE plus. Used in combination with the BYD battery box H11.5, it was recently awarded first prize for the most efficient storage system in power storage after an inspection by HTW Berlin as well as being named the top innovation by an independent jury. Available in five power classes between 4.2 kW and 10 kW, it is perfect for almost any size of building. This is true regardless of the roof orientation – whether east-west, south-facing or both at the same time, as the PV hybrid inverter has up to three MPP trackers, one of which can also act as a battery connection. When it comes to battery storage systems, customers have a wide range of models and manufacturers to choose from as the device has been approved for various high-voltage storage systems. And this functionality can be retrofitted at any time by simply ordering an activation code in the online store, which means in effect that customers only pay for the battery function when they really need it. While this hybrid inverter is aimed chiefly at private three-phase grid applications, KOSTAL is taking the Intersolar 2019 as an opportunity to present a further version of the PLENTICORE to supplement the portfolio of equipment for small-scale commercial applications and the PIKO MP plus for single-phase private applications. The range of solutions is rounded off by the new KOSTAL Smart Energy Metre as an accessory designed to optimise domestic self-consumption.

Real-world scenarios

Alongside this focus on smart hybrid and storage solutions, KOSTAL will be dedicating a large separate area of their stand to the topics of the smart some and to e-mobility within the ‘world of smart connectivity’. Joining forces with a number of partners, the company is demonstrating real-world scenarios for charging electric vehicles as well as cloud electricity solutions. In addition, they will be presenting the brand new KOSTAL Solar app, which allows customers to monitor their systems even more precisely while also providing a wide range of other useful information.

This year’s stand at the Intersolar is rounded off by a section for EPC & Commercial Solutions and a service area, where competent staff will be available for the entire duration of the exhibition to answer any questions visitors might have. (mfo)
