Smart solar:

Coal mining subsidence area changed by smart solar

The solar project occupies a total area of approximately 2,801 hectares whose total investment is valued at RMB 2.14 billion. It is expected to generate 900 million kWh of green electricity per year after its initiation, with an estimated reduction of 855,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The coal mining area features a complex terrain of criss-cross ravines and gullies. The Clenergy engineering division chose its high-quality engineered mounting structure SolarTerrace I for this project, using a concrete foundation. Considering that the site with its soft soil is likely to be an issue, Clenergy has opted for robust concrete slabs as its foundation.

What is the SolarTerrace I by PV-ezRack?

Manufactured using hot-dip galvanized steel, SolarTerrace I stands out with excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for even the toughest of environments. Additionally, this product is compatible with any soil type, which supports the ground screw, ramming, and concrete foundations.

SolarTerrace I delivers an economical solution ideal for commercial and utility-scale projects, with easy and fast installation and lower construction costs. Thus far, this versatile product has seen installations in various large-scale solar projects across China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, etc.

What about sustainability measures at the site?

As per the local ecological remediation plan, crop and plant cultivation and aquaculture will be introduced into the project site, creating complex habitat and vegetation with smart solar PV generation. Overall, this project is beneficial to the local ecological governance and economic development in a more sustainable way, boosting the optimization of the industry mix at Ordos city.

Daniel Hong, CEO at Clenergy, said: “It is inspiring that another region has been turned into a renewable energy base, contributing to the decarbonized energy mix. Peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality are two ambitious goals that are of significant importance in the coming decades, requiring persistent, coordinated efforts worldwide. We are proud to be a part of the renewable energy solutions to global decarbonization, leaving a more harmonious environment for future generations.”

Scheduled for grid connection this year

The Clenergy engineering division has been working closely with the client to push ahead with the project, ensuring that every detail lives up to the technical standards as specified. With the main engineering work completed, the solar project is scheduled for grid connection this year. Local people will see the changing landscape of the subsidence area, taking on an entirely new look. (mfo)
