Solar innovation:

Two major solar energy business awards go to AE Solar

Recently the Solar Energy Innovation and Business Excellence Award, aimed at recognizing top companies in the renewable energies space, concluded with a special ceremony. The awards celebrated solar panel- and other components-manufacturers as well as energy projects, initiatives, individuals and companies that have been influencing the way solar energy is consumed and implemented in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in the last years and covered the upstream, downstream and utility sectors.

Of the many nominations across the renewables sectors, AE Solar won first prize in two categories:

Company of the Year: Module

Desert environments have high levels of solar irradiation, which significantly increases the yield of PV systems. However, PV modules in desert areas suffer from harsh environmental stress factors such as high UV exposure as well as high-temperature fluctuations between night and day. The Comet and Aurora series with double-glass, heterojunction cells and POE encapsulants resist the harsh environment significantly by addressing the stress factors in the desert, ensuring the project lifetime and increasing the energy production.

Smart Technology Innovation of the year

The soiling ratio is about 20 times higher in desert conditions compared to moderate climates. This leads to higher maintenance costs for cleaning the PV modules. Soiling can be devided up into homogeneous soiling where the dust is distributed homogeneously over the glass surface and inhomogeneous soiling due to dust accumulation on the bottom row of PV modules. The latter scenario leads to a significant power loss and also shutdown of the PV modules. The Smart Shade-resistant modules from AE Solar show better performance under inhomogeneous soiling conditions. (mfo)
