my-PV wins Energy Globe Austria for PV building component activation

One year after the opening of my-PV's first solar-electric company building in Neuzeug/Sierning, the company can celebrate winning the Energy Globe Austria. The manufacturer from Austria impressed the jury with its building component activation with photovoltaics in the earth category: as a manufacturer of solar-electric building technology, my-PV has also implemented heating with photovoltaics in the new company building.

The concrete of the foundation slab becomes a daytime storage for PV surplus. For the first time, the component activation or concrete core activation is carried out via cables instead of pipes. Whereas in previous projects water or air were used as energy sources to heat the concrete core, this is now the very first time that this is done via electric heating wires cast into the foundation.

Negative operating costs

The solar-electric operations building, the only one of its kind in the world, has negative operating costs. "As operators, we actually get money back," explains my-PV shareholder Dr. Gerhard Rimpler. With the activated foundation slab, a huge heat reservoir is available that can perfectly compensate for power peaks. The solar energy is only converted into heat where it is needed.

"This also has an economic advantage: the solar-electric operations building, which is unique in the world, is self-sufficient in energy even in the winter months. With negative operating costs - contrary to the current price trend - a sustainable and economical operation of a company building is possible," adds my-PV shareholder Markus Gundendorfer.

Awarded since 1999

The renowned Environmental Award has been presented every year since 1999 to outstanding, sustainable projects with a focus on resource conservation, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies. For this year's award, 300 environmental projects had applied. The regional winning projects are honoured in the federal provinces and nationwide in Austria in the five Award categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Youth and a special category. (mfo)
