EV charging

Ads-Tec presents a grid-independent EV high-speed charger

The system offers charging in less than two square metres of floor space: two charge points for ultra-fast charging of e-vehicles - up to 100 kilometres of range in just a few minutes - with a DC output of up to 300 kilowatts for one vehicle and with 150 kilowatts for two charge points used simultaneously, between 144 and 201 kilowatt hours of battery capacity and optionally up to two 75-inch advertising displays over the entire height on the outer surfaces.

Energy storage, fast charging station and advertising platform in one

The new ChargePost combines battery-stored and boosted charging power at two charge points, including power electronics and air conditioning, in a powerful, compact and quiet "all-in-one" system. With simple, quick assembly by forklift truck, it can be "plug & play" at ground level directly into the existing, power-limited low-voltage grid. Charging electric vehicles becomes possible almost everywhere with the ChargePost, especially in inner cities and rural areas: At petrol stations where there is often no powerful grid connection, at depots of transport and logistics companies or at fleet operators whose vehicles run in multiple shifts and need to charge quickly.

Office and commercial buildings with visitor traffic can also offer an attractive service, as can car dealers who offer EVs with test drives, service and maintenance. In large residential buildings or neighbourhoods, ChargePost is a real and future-proof alternative to conventional AC wall boxes, which cannot be installed in sufficient numbers everywhere. ChargePost, on the other hand, offers maximum flexibility for spontaneous and rapid charging of several vehicles in succession.

Large screens offer ways of generating ad revenue

The configurable battery capacity of ChargePost ranges from 144 to 201 kilowatt hours. The integrated charging cable with uncooled CCS plug has a length of at least three metres. The 10-inch touchscreen interface is particularly user-friendly and includes an easy-to-use payment terminal. This makes the system usable as a public charging station. It is also extremely maintenance-friendly due to easy access to modularly designed functional units such as battery elements, cooling and monitors. Battery modules can be replaced individually if necessary, and an intelligent control system optimises the system for ideal operation. This increases the longevity and makes the system particularly efficient.

The optional one or two 75-inch displays on the sides of the ChargePost offer an advertising space which operators can use to generate additional revenue. The system allows the additional integration of a camera for motion detection or video recording. With these features, the ChargePost offers both electric vehicle charging and advertising.

At the same time, the integrated battery system serves as an energy platform: in conjunction with a PV system, more cost-effective in-house electricity can be used to charge the EVs or be used for grid services. The possibility of feeding stored energy back into the grid bidirectionally is expected to be possible from the first half of 2023 and opens up completely new business models for operators.

Flexible use at many locations without grid expansion

According to EU directives, there will probably be around 43 million electrically powered passenger vehicles and four million light commercial vehicles on Europe's roads in 2030, and these will need the corresponding charging infrastructure: Around 7.5 million public charging points would have to be created and thus an average of 14,000 charging points installed every week. The use of battery-buffered ultra-fast charging columns in places and situations where expansion of the network infrastructure is only possible to a limited extent helps to reduce the necessary total number of charging columns in a sustainable way, as significantly more vehicles can be charged in a shorter time due to the high output.

The ChargePost is available to order in Germany and Europe now and will also be available in the USA in the future. (mfo)
