CATL unveils module-to-bracket battery technology for heavy trucks

The module-to-bracket (MTB) technology integrates the battery module directly into the vehicle's bracket or chassis, allowing for a 40 per cent increase in battery system utilization and a 10 per cent weight reduction.

Battery packs using this technology can achieve energy densities of 170 watt hours per kilogram or 305 watt hours per litre, have a service life of 10 years or 10,000 cycles and support capacities of 140 to 600 kilowatt hours.

Solution for battery swap-enabled heavy trucks

According to CATL, these packs use U-shaped water-cooling technology for more efficient heat dissipation, providing a better solution for electrifying battery swap-enabled heavy trucks or construction machinery. The battery pack further supports multiple scenarios with an operating temperature range of -35 degrees Celsius to 65 degrees Celsius.

MTB is innovative battery structure

Notably, MTB technology is an innovation in battery structure, rather than a new formulation in battery chemistry.
