A solar mounting system that combines well with roof insulation

Van der Valk Solar Systems and Rockwool have completed the process, with the result that the ValkPro+ mounting system for flat roofs can be used on roofs with the following insulation materials by Rockwool: Caproxx Energy, Tauroxx, Rhinoxx, Rhinoxx D and Rhinoxx Afschot (cut to-fall).

Based on the test, in which the maximum compression of the insulation boards has been determined, Rockwool approves a point load of up to 33 kPa for the ValkPro+ system. The long-term creep tests in accordance with EN1606 have been carried out by an independent testing institute in 2019 and were done both for a full load-bearing substrate (for example: concrete or wood) and on a partially supported constructions (+/- 50 per cent for profiled steel deck roofs).

Van der Valk also has a solution to keep birds out.

“Especially for large commercial roofs, selecting the right type of roof insulation is an increasingly important theme, also when it comes to fire safety. This choice can have consequences for the allowable point load of the PV mounting system. We are therefore delighted with this official approval and can provide targeted advice to our customers based on this,” said Tom Koot, Senior Project Manager at Van der Valk Solar Systems. (mfo)
