Simulation of battery systems

The power simulation was developed for battery systems to evaluate the energy efficiency of grid-connected PV battery systems for residential applications. The model can be used for the simulation of AC, DC and solar coupled systems with a time resolution of one second over a period of one year. As a result, the overall system efficiency of the three topologies can be evaluated with the System Performance Index (SPI).

The main task of Permod is to increase the comparability of different products based on the SPI. In addition, the software shows detailed loss analyses and can be used for the evaluation of different measures for optimising the overall system efficiency. The model can also be implemented in software applications for system design and dimensioning of components. Permod, including the source code and input time series, is available as a free download.
