The Solar String Optimizer from Ferroamp delivers 760 Volts output

The Solar String Optimizer (SSO) from Sweden-based Ferroamp delivers a fixed 760 Volts output to the DC nanogrid for high voltage and low loss energy transmission to either the energy storage or EnergyHub inverter. The EnergyHub DC nanogrid simplifies the installation of multiple strings, each one with a SSO as the output voltage from each SSO is fixed. Adding a new PV solar sting to an exsiting system is easy. Connect an SSO to the PV string and the SSO output terminal to the DC nanogrid.

A second EnergyHub ACE can be connected to the same DC nanogrid or more power modules can be adda to the ENergyHub XL power stack to increase conversion capacity. Another alternative is to add more Energy Storage to store the additional energy harvest.

The SSO can manage string voltages up to 990 Volts DC. The installation is made by connecting the SSO units to the DC link with two wires. A high DC link voltage allows for thin wires and much easier cable management. The DC link also means that less cables run from the panels to the inverter. Adding strings to an exsisting installation is easy as the voltage from each SSO is identical and the new string is connected to the DC link instead of a separate cable run to the Inverter.

The SSO is equipped with control electronics that allows for remote shut down management. This means that the DC-DC converter can shut down if the EnergyHub sends a command. The SSO requires constant communication with the EnergyHub which means that the SSO will shut down if the EnergyHub fails to send the required reponse signal in case of fire or power failure.
