Kia Soul EV electric car: stronger battery – range of 250 kilometers
Kia offers the Soul EV starting from June 2017 EV with an improved battery pack. Together with a slight reduction in consumption this allows a range increase of almost 20 percent.
Increased battery capacity
A new lithium-ion polymer battery with a capacity increased from 27 to 30 kWh is decisive for the longer range. At the same time, Kia cuts power consumption from 14.7 to 14.3 kWh per 100 kilometers according to the standard. Instead of 212 kilometers so far, the Soul EV now reaches a norm range of 250 kilometers with one load. Real driving range is lower. The driving performance, on the other hand, remains almost unchanged: instead of in 11.2, the 81 kW strong electric motor now accelerates the 1.5-tonner from 11.3 to 100 km / h in 11.3 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 145 km / h as before.
Quick charging of 33 minutes for 80 percent load
The Soul EV can be charged either to AC current with a maximum of 6.6 kW, for which Kia indicates a charging time of five and a half to six hours. The Play version of the electric car provides a quick charge connection CHAdeMO with an expected charge time of 33 minutes for a 80 percent load at a 50 kW quick charging station.
The price of the Kia Soul EV increases with the update by a moderate 600 euros. The entry-level plug - without a quick-charge connection - now costs 29,490 euros (minus funding), the better-equipped and fast-loading version Play 1,900 euros more. The revised Kia Soul EV is available as of now, the electric car will be delivered from June (hcn).
