High acceptance for solar and wind in Turkey

70.5% of Turks support solar power in the neighbourhood, 52.1% support wind power.

Which power plants they would oppose most was also asked. Only 1.6% and 2.1% declared opposition to solar and wind respectively, while 68.2% of them said nuclear and 53.1% of them declared coal.

Turkish leading polling company, Konda Research conducted face to face interviews with 2,595 individuals and asked questions on climate change and energy and crossed the answers with the other answers on Turks' political and social preferences and tendencies all around Turkey.

Great majority concerned about climate change

Results also show Turkish society says climate change is happening (86%), and a great majority is a lot concerned about it (75%). They also say extreme weather events such as floods, storms, heat waves and droughts have increased recently (76.3%). (HCN)
