SolarPower Europe launched its 3.0 Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Best Practices Guidelines. Building on the success of the previous edition, version 3.0 dives deeper into innovative business models to improve O&M services with new sections on re-powering, rooftop O&M and digital solutions.
Maintenance of smaller distributed systems included
Paolo V. Chiantore, Managing Director Italy Baywa r.e. and O&M Task Force Leader for SolarPower Europe commented: "Now that we have reached the third edition of the O&M Best Practice Guidelines, we have further contributed to the growth of our sector. With improvement on the already consistent version 2 and with new sections dedicated to innovations in O&M, and to maintenance of smaller distributed systems, we have made a real difference to driving forward best practice within the industry. Business opportunities for solar installers
Giorgia Concas, Secretary General of the EU Association of Electrical Contractors (AIE), who have supported the drafting of the distributed solar chapter of the new guidelines said: "Today, most small-scale installations are not covered by operation and maintenance, but this is a promising untapped segment. Growing solar markets create business opportunities and place responsibility on installers to professionalize their operation and maintenance services for small-scale projects. We are honored to have contributed to the new SolarPower Europe guidelines, encouraging the provision of high-quality O&M services even for the smallest solar installations."
O&M crucial segment in the solar value chain
Aurélie Beauvais, Policy Director of SolarPower Europe said: "O&M is a crucial segment in the solar power value chain in Europe, it is responsible for about one third of all solar jobs created and gross value added.
